Teacher slashed by husband discharged from hospital


BALIK PULAU: A 28-year-old teacher, who was slashed by her husband at their home here on Wednesday, has been discharged from Penang Hospital.

Southwest district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam said today: “The victim is allowed to leave the hospital, but her statement has not yet been recorded.”

The woman’s husband, also a teacher, is still receiving treatment at the same hospital.

“He is stable,” he added.

It was reported on Wednesday that a routine morning at a family home in Taman Tunas Muda, Sungai Ara here turned violent when a 30-year-old teacher attacked his wife with a kitchen knife before turning the weapon on himself.

The incident occurred just before Subuh prayers, around 6am.

The motive remains unknown, although police and family members had described the couple as “harmonious”.
