PETALING JAYA:

World mixed doubles champions Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei crashed out of the French Open after losing to eight-ranked Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong in the quarter-finals today.

After losing the first game without a fight, the Malaysians tried to force a rubber, but their gritty opponents held on to win 21-9, 21-18 in 37 minutes at the the Glaz Arena in Cesson-Sevigne.

It was their first defeat to Chun Man-Ying Suet in their three encounters to date.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei, ranked world No 3, were eliminated in the semi-finals of the Denmark Open last week.

They have made just two final and seven semi-final appearances this year, winning only the World Championships title in August.
