KUALA LUMPUR:

Top seeds Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei failed to set up an all-Malaysian mixed doubles final in the Macau Open, losing to the lower-ranked Danish pair of Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje today.

The world No 3 pair went down 21-15, 17-21, 11-21 in 54 minutes, despite taking the first game quite comfortably.

They lost their momentum in the next two games, committing unforced errors that allowed the world No 4 Danes to take control.

It was the Danes’ first win in three meetings against Tang Jie-Ee Wei.

Earlier, Malaysia’s world No 127 pair Jimmy Wong-Lai Pei Jing were surprise finalists after stunning a top Indonesian pair in the World Tour Super 300 semi-final.
