National mixed doubles shuttlers Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei failed to create history at the China Masters after falling to Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supisara Paewsamphran in the final today.
The world champions, who were hoping to win Malaysia’s first ever title at the China Masters, were upstaged in straight games of 8-21, 17-21 by the Thais, who are only in their first year as a pair.
The match lasted just 34 minutes at the Shenzhen Arena.
The fatigue of playing long three-game matches in their last three rounds was quite obvious as Tang Jie-Ee Wei lacked the power and strength displayed against China‘s top pair in the semi-finals yesterday.
This is the Thai pair’s fourth win in their five encounters with the Malaysians.
Tang Jie-Ee Wei made history on Aug 31 by becoming the first Malaysian mixed doubles pair to win a title at the World Championships.
