KOTA BARU: Pas has called for an end to “unhealthy” speculation, claiming that certain component parties within Perikatan Nasional (PN) oppose the party taking the helm of the coalition.
Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan expressed disappointment over such claims, describing them as inaccurate assumptions.
“Several parties have tried to create the impression that two non-Malay parties disagree with Pas leading PN.
“However, when we contacted the leadership of those parties, they clarified they have no issue with Pas and that such statements did not originate from their organisations.
“I urge everyone to stop making these unhealthy remarks,” he said after delivering a closed-door address to the Bunut Payong state constituency workforce here last night.
It was previously reported that a new PN chairman is expected to be selected from among the Pas leadership.
Takiyuddin, who is also PN deputy secretary-general, said the vacancy left by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would be decided through consensus within the coalition and not unilaterally by any single party.
