KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 3 Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani’s World Championships campaign ended in disappointment after they were beaten by Taiwan’s Lee Jhe Huei-Yang Po Hsuan in Paris on Thursday.
The third seeds lost 22-20, 15-21, 23-21 to their world No. 18 opponents at the Adidas Arena, their first defeat to the Taiwanese duo in their past four encounters.
Despite coming in as one of the favourites, Sze Fei-Izzuddin once again fell short at the world meet, exiting in the last 16 for the third consecutive edition since 2021.
The Malaysians looked set to finally break their jinx when they came from 16-12 down in the decider to surge ahead 20-17, holding three match points.
But Jhe Huei-Po Hsuan mounted a spirited fightback, reeling off six of the last seven points to snatch victory and leave their Sze Fei-Izzuddin crestfallen.
