Tabung Haji has denied allegations that the pilgrims fund is being managed by non-Muslims, following the spread of videos on social media urging Muslims in the country to withdraw their savings from the fund.

TH CEO Mustakim Mohamad said the management of the fund and haj operations remains fully under the leadership of a 100% Bumiputera-Muslim team.
He urged the public not to believe or share unverified information.
Yesterday, religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar said reports have been filed with the authorities over videos on social media urging Muslims in the country to withdraw their savings from TH, following concerns over its rebranding exercise.
Tampin MP Isam Isa had raised concerns about misinformation spreading in WhatsApp groups among villagers, including claims that TH was being managed by non-Muslims.
Pengkalan Chepa MP Ahmad Marzuk Shaary had previously questioned why the rebranding exercise had been carried out by a non-Muslim company.
Na’im, however, said the appointment of the company was made in a manner “similar to other corporate appointments”.
Mustakim said the rebranding exercise requires various technical support services, which are being provided by a consortium formed under TH.
The rebranding was important in view of the rising cost of pilgrimage, which had outgrown the deposits in the fund.
“TH must evolve into a customer-focussed savings institution, supported by strategies that are responsive to dynamic demographic changes. Achieving this goal requires the right technical expertise, a practice that has clear precedents throughout Islamic history,” Mustakim said.
