ARAU: Media Prima Bhd today delivered RM125,130 worth of essential supplies to Kedah, fulfilling the public trust placed in the Tabung Bencana NSTP-Media Prima to strengthen the state’s disaster preparedness.

The aid was handed over by Media Prima group chairman Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussian Aljunid to the Kedah Social Welfare Department (JKM) at the Bedong Disaster Aid Storage Depot.

Kedah Social Welfare director Zakaria Taib received the contribution on behalf of the department.

Media Prima Group Corporate Communications Department and Chairman’s Office group general manager Azlan Abdul Aziz said the contribution reflected the collective goodwill of Malaysians who donated to help disaster victims.

He said Kedah was the fourth state to receive assistance under the fund, after , Terengganu and Perlis.

“First of all, I would like to thank Malaysians nationwide who contributed to the Tabung Bencana NSTP-Media Prima.

“The contribution, amounting to about RM125,000, was raised through public donations. The essential items delivered today will be stored at the depot and can be mobilised immediately should a disaster occur in the state.

“We hope this contribution will help support our colleagues at JKM in managing disaster situations,” he said after the handover ceremony here today.

Also present was Media Prima Corporate Social Responsibility and Sponsorship manager Muhammad Farris Effendy Mohd Salim.

Azlan said Media Prima remained committed to community outreach initiatives and would continue to strengthen strategic partnerships with local agencies through the fund.

Meanwhile, Zakaria said the contribution would help ease the burden on flood victims while enhancing the state’s disaster preparedness.

“Kedah is among the states frequently affected by disasters. In 2025 alone, more than 20,000 disaster victims were evacuated to temporary relief centres statewide. So the essential item aid is very helpful.

“We hope this collaboration will continue in the future, as it plays an important role in meeting the needs of the community,” he said.

Members of the public who wish to contribute may channel donations to the Tabung Bencana NSTP-Media Prima via Bank Muamalat account 1401-0008-8437-12.
