Suria KLCC opens CNY celebration with an extravagant performance

KUALA LUMPUR: Suria KLCC unveiled its Chinese New Year celebrations in grand style, ushering in the Year of the Horse with an immersive showcase of heritage, culture and festive cheer at the mall’s Centre Court.

Last night’s launch saw the Centre Court buzzing with festive energy as the rhythmic beat of drums echoed through the mall, drawing crowds to the towering Oriental Horse Carousel installation.

Guests gathered around the performance area as acrobatic lion dancers leapt across high poles, with flashes from mobile phones lighting up the space as visitors captured the spectacle.

The scent of incense and festive treats filled the air, and families lingered at interactive zones, posing for photographs against the cherry blossom-lined pavilion, creating a lively and celebratory start to the Year of the Horse.

The celebration, which runs from Jan 16 to Feb 18, features a striking Oriental Horse Carousel as its centrepiece, set against scenic backdrops of mountains and cherry blossom trees, transforming the iconic shopping destination into a vibrant festive landscape.

The launch drew visitors and shoppers who were treated to traditional performances, cultural artistry and interactive experiences designed to reflect the energy and momentum of the Year of the Horse.

Suria KLCC executive director and chief executive officer Francis Tan said the mall aimed to create more than just a festive shopping experience.

“As an iconic destination at the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Suria KLCC is more than just a shopping mall; it is a place where memories are made and experiences are shared.

“This Chinese New Year, we are honoured to curate an immersive journey that celebrates the energy and momentum of the Year of the Horse while binding people together in a tapestry of shared heritage and joy.”

Visitors can also explore interactive installations such as the Lotus Pond of Blessings, where shoppers are invited to make wishes for prosperity and good fortune, as well as a traditional Chinese pavilion and bridge that offer picturesque photo opportunities.

Tan said Suria KLCC was also continuing its commitment to community well-being through the Oriental Horse Carousel corporate social responsibility initiative.

“This initiative allows our shoppers to contribute meaningfully to mental health awareness while embracing the festive spirit,” he said.

In addition to the visual spectacle, Suria KLCC is offering festive rewards through its Shoppers Rewards Programme, with shopping e-vouchers and red packets available for qualifying purchases.

The celebrations are further enlivened with high-pole acrobatic lion dance performances every Saturday, as well as on the first two days of Chinese New Year.

Shoppers can also participate in festive sugar art and Chinese calligraphy stamping workshops, and visit themed photobooths throughout the campaign period.

The Suria KLCC Group is also extending the Year of the Horse celebrations to its other properties, including Alamanda Shopping Centre in and Mesra Mall on the East Coast, with curated festive décor, cultural performances and shopper rewards tailored to local communities.
