KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) — Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City (SMC), successfully hosted its inaugural Life Moves Festival 2025 on Wednesday, drawing more than 2,000 participants from all walks of life who came together to take charge of their health.
Held at the lobby of Towers C and D in SMC, the festival aimed to bring core health services into a communal, open-door setting by offering free screenings and assessments, including blood glucose and cholesterol checks, body composition analysis and urine screenings.
SMC’s medical professionals were also on hand to provide wellness guidance, with many participants receiving consultations on their health.
“Cardiovascular disease and cancer remain major contributors to premature mortality, with many cases detected only at advanced stages, making early intervention more vital than ever,” it said in a statement.
Meanwhile, SMC chief executive officer Dr Seow Vei Ken said early detection and effective management could, in many cases, improve patient outcomes and help control the progression of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
“Through this event, we encourage the community to take their health seriously, without fear or judgment. Sometimes, the first step is simply knowing where you stand, and early action and accountability strengthen our healthcare system and benefit the nation in the long run,” he said.
One of the standout experiences at the event was the ‘Jantungku’ Walkthrough Exhibit, a multi-sensory journey through the cardiovascular system, which captured the attention of attendees, both young and old, and served as a powerful reminder of how everyday lifestyle choices directly impact long-term well-being.
The festival also featured health-themed game stations and hands-on activities for parents and children, while shoppers explored the Vibrant Health Marketplace.
Life Moves Festival 2025 underscored SMC’s ongoing efforts to make preventive healthcare more accessible to the public, with the event’s success driven by the collective contributions of SMC’s healthcare teams and key partners who helped broaden its impact and reach.
As Malaysia’s largest private quaternary hospital, SMC continues to raise the bar in advanced and accessible care. It is also the first private hospital in the country to hold three major hospital-wide accreditations—Joint Commission International (JCI) from the United States, the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS), and the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH).
Strengthening its global and national reputation, SMC was recognised as Malaysia’s top hospital and ranked among the world’s top 250 in Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals list for both 2024 and 2025. The hospital further cemented its standing by securing its fourth consecutive title as Hospital of the Year (Malaysia) at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2025.
Currently offering over 60 medical specialties across 28 Centres of Excellence with 810 licensed beds, the hospital will have the capacity to expand to more than 1,100 beds upon the completion of its sixth block—Tower F (Children’s Pavilion).
