KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 — Around 400 people went through a harrowing experience after being trapped by a sudden flood surge at the Ali River Campsite in Kuala Kubu Baharu early this morning.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received a call about the incident at about 5.4am, according to a report in Kosmo! Online.
He said six personnel and a fire engine from the Kuala Kubu Baharu Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene.
“The operations commander reported that about 400 victims were trapped by the sudden surge.
“All victims were instructed to move to higher and safer ground under the monitoring of firefighters until the water receded,” he said in a statement today.
Ahmad Mukhlis added that rain in the area has since subsided and the river water level is receding.
