ALOR SETAR, Oct 16 — The Kedah State Education Department has launched an internal investigation and vowed to take stern disciplinary action, including expulsion, against students involved in a recent rape case and the circulation of obscene videos at a school in Baling.

In an official statement, the department expressed serious concern over the incident.

“The department has begun taking action. The case is currently under police investigation, and all suspects have been remanded. We are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation,” it said.

“Immediate steps have also been taken to provide assistance to the victim. Our primary focus is to ensure the victim’s well-being is given utmost attention,” the statement added.

The department further reiterated that the Ministry of Education (MOE) does not tolerate any form of sexual misconduct within educational institutions and is working diligently to enhance all aspects of safety and welfare for the entire educational community.

Earlier today, police detained four individuals, including three male students from a school in Baling, on suspicion of being involved in the rape of a minor. — Bernama
