BUKIT MERTAJAM: Bukit Mertajam member of parliament Steven Sim Chee Keong has contributed RM100,000 to Sekolah Menengah Agama (SMA) Al-Ahmadiah Al-Ijtimaiah here to enhance teaching facilities at one of the district’s oldest religious schools.

The contribution was handed over during Sim’s visit to the school in Padang Lalang, where he presented a mock cheque and received a briefing from the school management on its needs and future plans.

He was welcomed by the school’s senior assistant for education, Zainol Abidin Ahmad, along with teachers and representatives of the parent-teacher association.

The funds will be used to procure five smart boards, which are expected to benefit all 168 students at the 129-year-old institution. The initiative aims to ensure the school keeps pace with technological developments in education.

“The introduction of smart boards will help students learn more effectively while easing teachers’ workload through more interactive and modern teaching methods.

“An additional three smart boards will be donated next year to ensure all classrooms are fully equipped,” he said during the visit.

This is not the first time Sim has assisted the school.

In 2024, he contributed RM60,000 towards a Smart TV project and learning equipment for the Islamic kindergarten (Tadika , Tadis) under SMA Al-Ahmadiah Al-Ijtimaiah.
