KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Red Giants (SRG.OG) are now just one win away from becoming the first team to win the Mid Season Cup x Esports World Cup (MSCxEWC) title back to back.
The defending champions edged ONIC Philippines 3-2 in the semi-finals in Riyadh today (Aug 1) to book their spot in the decider.
It was a breakthrough victory for SRG.OG as they had lost their previous two encounters against ONIC Philippines.
SRG.OG jungler Haqqullah Ahmad Shahrul Zaman – better known by his nickname Sekyss – was all smiles after their semi-final victory.
“I think we were just really hungry to get revenge against them as we had lost to them twice previously. We got the best revenge ever,” said Haqqullah during the post-match interview.
SRG.OG had earlier this week beaten Indonesian side RRQ Hoshi 3-2 in the quarterfinals.
They will play either Team Liquid PH or ONIC ID in the final tomorrow (Aug 2).
