The Sarawak government plans to introduce a special pass soon to make it easier for Sarawakians to travel to Brunei, premier Abang Johari Openg said today.
Abang Johari said this followed bilateral talks between Malaysia and Brunei in conjunction with a state visit by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, The Borneo Post reported.
“I just returned (from Kuala Lumpur). Perhaps soon, we will be able to travel to Brunei from Sarawak just by using a special pass,” he said, adding that the governments of Malaysia and Brunei will hold negotiations to establish seamless travel between the two countries.
He said this special pass would also apply to Sabahans.
Abang Johari said bilateral discussions between Malaysia and Brunei revolved around two main issues – mobility between the two countries, and connecting electricity to Brunei from Sarawak.
The latter would involve the linking of the 275kV electricity grid in Tudan, Miri, to Kuala Belait and Lumut in Brunei, he said.
