NOVO MESTO, Slovenia, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) — The Slovenian government will provide 28 million euros (32 million U.S. dollars) to support production of Renault’s new Twingo E-Tech electric vehicle at the Revoz plant in Novo Mesto, officials announced Tuesday.

The 120-million-euro project is seen as a key boost to Slovenia’s shift toward electric mobility. Full-scale production is due early next year, with Revoz, a Renault subsidiary, planning to add about 250 jobs by end-2025.

Economy Minister Matjaz Han, who signed the funding deal, said the investment marks a new chapter in Slovenia’s automotive industry, securing production after lengthy talks with Renault. Pilot output is already under way and expected to ramp up to 260 cars per shift by 2026.

Han said the project underscores Slovenia’s commitment to high-value manufacturing and the EU’s green transition goals. (1 euro = 1.16 U.S. dollar)
