KUALA LUMPUR: Sirim Bhd launched its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Management System Certification (ISO/IEC 42001) which provides organisations a structured framework to manage artificial intelligence ethically, responsibly and transparently in line with international principles of safety and reliability.
Officiating the launch, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said that Sirim not only were thrusting the national agenda forward but also turned ‘Made In Malaysia’ products as a mark of global trust and excellence.
“Under the 13th Malaysia Plan, Malaysia focuses on nine strategic thrusts that strengthen competitiveness and build a future-ready nation — from digital acceleration to strengthening research, development, commercialisation and innovation.
“And it is institutions like Sirim that ensure our growth is matched by reliability, safety and global trust.
“Let us build a Malaysia where technology serves humanity, where sustainability is not a slogan but a culture, and where ‘Made in Malaysia’ stands proudly as a mark of trust, intelligence and global excellence,” he said in his welcoming address before the launch at SIRIM’s 2025 industry ceremony.
He added that now is the time to embrace AI as a catalyst for smarter factories, greener operations, safer products and world-class competitiveness.
Sirim also launched a new Innovation Management System Certification (MS ISO 56001) to complement the AI certification.
The second certification provides organisations with a systematic way to strengthen internal processes, encourage structured creativity and build long-term innovation capability.
“The government’s RM8.1 billion allocation for AI development and research and development transformation is a clear declaration of intent: Malaysia is not here to follow, Malaysia is here to lead,” Fadillah said.
He added that Putrajaya will continue supporting Sirim as the national certification body and as a leading institution that champions AI governance, smart manufacturing and sustainable industrial ecosystems.
Also present was Sirim chairman Datuk Ir Khairol Anuar Mohamad Tawi.
