#SHOWBIZ: Yuna loses jobs and followers after speaking up for Palestine

KUALA LUMPUR: Outspoken in voicing her solidarity with Palestine, singer Yuna has not only lost thousands of social media followers but has also faced major financial setbacks after overseas performance offers came to a halt.

The situation began after Yuna, whose full name is Yunalis Mat Zara’ai, courageously shared content highlighting the atrocities in Gaza, sparking mixed reactions.

“I know this is difficult, but I stand here with you, Palestine. I see many with millions of followers and huge platforms choosing to remain silent, even as Gaza is being destroyed before our eyes.

“Since I started sharing content about the watermelon (a symbol of solidarity with Palestine), I’ve lost jobs, some of which I turned down myself.

“I’ve lost friends, invitations to perform abroad have stopped, and more than 4,000 followers are gone. Even my own fans can’t see my posts,” Yuna recently shared on Instagram Stories.

Despite the pressure and losses, the ‘Cinta Sempurna’ hitmaker chooses to remain positive and resilient.

“Some days I feel terrible, some days I still see hope. It’s hard when people I work with act like nothing is happening, as if the genocide isn’t real.

“Some days I cry, but my spirit remains. With a strong soul, I know everything will be okay.

“The secret is to keep breathing, because what they want is for us to give up. No matter what, the struggle must go on,” she affirmed.
