SHAH ALAM: Actress and TV host Raja Azura has appeared at the Shah Alam Syariah Subordinate Court to apply for permission to enforce a maintenance order.
Her lawyer, Mohammad Amirul Hanizan, said that a new application was needed because the original order, issued in 2010, was too old to be implemented.
“Today, we are initiating proceedings against ‘Kak Engku’s’ (Raja Azura’s) ex-husband in relation to an order issued by this court in 2010,” he told Harian Metro.
“The order is too old, and its terms can no longer be enforced. So, today, Kak Engku came to court to file for the orders to be implemented by her ex-husband.”
While Amirul could not disclose the specific amount of maintenance being claimed, he confirmed his client was following the correct legal procedure.
He explained that the claim covers maintenance for the children and other related matters, with the majority of it being child-related.
“The amount is substantial, and I cannot reveal more,” he said.
“That is the right of Kak Engku and her family, so she needs to make her demands in the correct place, which is the Syariah court.”
Raja Azura, 53, confirmed that the action was taken with the agreement of her three children: Megat Muhammad Raziq Adzmin, Megat Luqman Hakim Adzmin, and Puteri Mia Maizura Adzmin.
“Since we separated in 2010, I have never filed a claim. This is the first time I have set foot in this court,” she said.
“I want to claim my children’s rights. That is all. The children are all grown up. They have also graduated, thank God. So I think they are also quite mature now.”
Raja Azura and her ex-husband, Adzmin Osman, were married in March 2001, and their divorce was confirmed in 2010.
