PARIS: Pop superstar Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have officially confirmed their romance, stepping out publicly as a couple for the first time in Paris.
The pair, who first sparked dating speculation over the summer, made their debut on Saturday (Oct 25), according to Billboard Magazine.
The public confirmation came as Perry, 41, and Trudeau, 53, celebrated the singer’s birthday with a date night at the famous Crazy Horse Paris cabaret.
Photos of the evening show the two leaving the venue hand-in-hand, both smiling broadly.
The couple’s first sighting dates back to July, when they were seen together in Montreal following one of the singer’s concerts.
Subsequent sightings included the politician attending Perry’s ‘Lifetimes Tour’ stop at the Bell Centre, where he was reportedly seen singing along to her hit, “Firework.”
Their relationship buzz reached fever pitch recently when intimate photos surfaced of them kissing aboard a yacht.
Perry had playfully hinted that she was off the market during a London concert on Oct 13, just a fortnight before their Paris outing.
Spotting a fan’s sign that read, “Katy Perry, will you marry me?”, she delivered a cheeky response: “You heard I was single? That’s interesting,” Perry said. “You know you really should have asked me about 48 hours ago.”
She added playfully, “He’s just a little too late…”
The romance follows a period of major personal change for both high-profile figures.
Perry’s new relationship comes a few months after her break-up with actor Orlando Bloom in early July.
The couple had dated on and off for nearly nine years and share a daughter, Daisy Dove.
Their representatives confirmed the split at the time, stating they were shifting focus to co-parenting: “Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” their statement read.
“They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
Similarly, Trudeau went through a public separation, announcing his split from his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, in August 2023. They share three children together.
