PETALING JAYA: An inspirational new movie about an all-girl football team, titled ‘Bola & Impian’, is coming soon.
Produced by Starlight Institute of Screen and Stage Media, the story follows the compelling journey of an under-18 football team from a small town as they strive to enter the national championship.
Starlight CEO Aaron Lim said that the new film will be a mix of high-energy sports drama and heartfelt storytelling.
“‘Bola & Impian’ celebrates courage, teamwork, and the dreams of young Malaysians who defy the odds,” he said.
The film introduces three rising stars: Seri Nur Adriana Elisa, 18, Lucinda Lew Xin Yee, 16, and Aarhthi Sivenesan, 16.
They were discovered through the company’s talent development programme.
Lim explained: “30 hopefuls were shortlisted from more than 100 submissions during our Project Starlight Audition 2025, which was held last Sept 19. From the final shortlist, only 3 made the cut to be in lead roles.”
The film is directed by Rayson Ng, who has over 17 years’ experience in the film industry and has been involved in more than 1,500 commercials, documentaries, and dramas.
Lim himself is best known for his work on the 2022 mystery thriller ‘C144: Human x Nature’, which was inspired by the discovery of a World War II aircraft crash site.
That film received international acclaim, winning Best Writer at the Alternative Film Festival, Canada, and Best Feature Film at the Eastern Europe Film Festival.
Filming for ‘Bola & Impian’ will begin this month, taking place mainly in Johor.
The film’s premiere is expected to be held in May next year.
