#SHOWBIZ: Idol athlete: SHINee's Minho sprints to victory in Dubai Run

SEOUL: In a feat that has fans joking that music is merely a “part-time job,” SHINee’s Minho has proven his athletic mettle once again by clinching first place in his category at the Dubai Run.

The 34-year-old idol, who recently released a new single, shared the details of his November achievement in a YouTube video with comedian Park Myung Soo.

Competing in the 5km “family-friendly” segment of the massive event—which saw over 300,000 participants take to the streets of Dubai—Minho displayed the relentless competitive fire he is famous for.

Maintaining a blistering pace of roughly four minutes per kilometre, he crossed the finish line in just 19 minutes and 56 seconds.

The victory was not without a late-stage challenge.

Video footage captured a fellow runner attempting to overtake the singer in the final stretch, sparking Minho’s legendary sporting instinct.

“At the very end, suddenly someone else zoomed past me,” he recounted. “I wasn’t planning on running fast, but I thought, ‘I must show the power of ,’ and made a comeback. I sprinted like crazy at the end.”

While his companion Park finished with a respectable time of 35 minutes, netizens were more preoccupied with Minho’s effortless stamina, with one fan quipping that his hair remained “on-point” even after the exertion.

The Dubai victory is just the latest entry in a busy athletic calendar for the star, who hails from a sporting family. Only a week after his run in the Middle East, Minho teamed up with Physical: 100 standout Hong Beom Seok for Hyrox Singapore.

The pair secured a second-place finish in the 35-39 age category, completing the grueling fitness circuit in a remarkable 55 minutes and 15 seconds.
