LOS ANGELES: For fans of TV series, The Summer I Turned Pretty, the love triangle that sparked countless TikTok entries, memes, and late-night debates is heading for its final showdown — on the big screen.
Prime Video announced on Wednesday that The Summer I Turned Pretty will wrap up with a feature-length film during the Season 3 premiere celebration in Paris, where series stars Lola Tung (who plays Belly) and Christopher Briney (Conrad) walked the red carpet alongside a billboard as the news was unveiled.
Based on Jenny Han’s beloved young adult trilogy, the series has captivated fans since its 2022 debut, weaving a multigenerational story of family, love, and heartbreak.
Viewers were swept into the story of Belly’s coming-of-age summers and her tug-of-war between brothers Conrad and Jeremiah.
The “Team Conrad vs Team Jeremiah” rivalry has only grown fiercer with each season, spilling across social media timelines and fan forums worldwide.
While details of the film remain under wraps, Prime Video described it as the “final chapter” in Belly’s journey. Han, who created and executive-produced the show, will both write and direct the feature.
Season 3, which premiered this week in the US and UK, leaves Belly at a crossroads between her two great loves.
For Han, there was only one way to give her character’s journey the ending it deserved.
“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due,” Han said in a statement.
She thanked Prime Video for supporting her vision and giving fans a proper ending.
Courtenay Valenti of Amazon MGM Studios and Vernon Sanders of Prime Video said the series has connected with audiences everywhere, bringing “joy, nostalgia, and connection.”
They added that they are excited to work with Jenny Han again to give fans a memorable final chapter.
