KUALA LUMPUR: After breaking up with rock star Datuk Awie, popular actress and singer Erra Fazira has revealed that it took her eight years to move on.
Erra, 52, said she went to great lengths to avoid her former fiancé at events.
“We broke up badly, so we avoided each other for eight years,” she said during a recent podcast session.
“We were once involved in the same performance, but I made sure we didn’t bump into each other backstage. I would run away if I saw Awie.”
She went on to say that after eight years, she felt it was finally time to move on and accepted an invitation to appear on a show hosted by Awie.
“Thank God everything went smoothly,” she shared.
“At that time, Awie immediately asked me to be involved in another project.”
Erra and Awie, who co-starred in the film Sembilu, were in a relationship for several years and got engaged in 1997 before breaking up in 1998.
