#SHOWBIZ: Ean's 'Merde-Car Man' adventure highlights Malaysian generosity and unity

KUALA LUMPUR: In a remarkable tribute to the spirit of Merdeka, Fly FM’s breakfast show host Ean has completed his daring “Merde-Car Man” challenge, a cross-country hitchhiking journey that saw him traverse Peninsular Malaysia without a car or a plan.

Relying entirely on the generosity of strangers, Ean’s adventure became a powerful testament to the kindness and unity of the Malaysian people.

Starting his epic journey in Kuala Lumpur, Ean embarked on a mission to prove that the core values of Merdeka are as strong as ever.

His unique expedition was made possible by everyday Malaysians who offered him rides, meals, and a place to rest, turning what could have been a difficult trek into a celebration of hospitality.

Along his route, Ean encountered a diverse group of people, from students and families to religious leaders, all eager to help.

Memorable moments from his journey included a serene boat ride in Perak and a trip to the scenic Gua Kelam in Perlis.

The kindness he received from figures like Ustaz Firdaus, who drove him a significant distance through Kedah and into Perlis, highlighted the unifying power of human connection across different communities.

Ean’s journey ended fittingly at the Merdeka Parade in , where he met up with his co-host Haniff to celebrate Independence Day with the nation.

The campaign’s success was further recognised when the duo had the honour of meeting Communications Minister Datuk Fadzil.

Reflecting on the experience, Ean said, “The Merde-Car Man campaign was a personal challenge, but it became so much more. It was a journey of rediscovery, showing me just how generous and united Malaysians truly are.”

“Every ride, every conversation, every act of kindness was a reminder that our independence is built on a foundation of togetherness,” he added.

The campaign’s success reaffirms Fly FM’s message that independence is not merely a historical event but a living principle of unity and kindness.
