KUANTAN, Aug 25 — Siti Auni Syafiqa Sheikh Ali, 18, who was killed in an accident along Jalan Bahau-Keratong near Kampung Bukit Serok, Rompin, yesterday, had made a video call with her father the day before, telling him how much she missed him.

Sheikh Ali Sheikh Mustafa, 50, said that during the video call, Siti Auni Syafiqa, who was with her younger sister Siti Adawiya Syauqina, 13, said she could not wait to return home to see him after attending a wedding feast in Alor Gajah, Melaka.

“The last time I met them was on Thursday before they left for Alor Gajah with their mother. On Saturday, we had a video call with my eldest child, who was studying in Tanjung Malim.

“Siti Auni Syafiqa said, ‘I miss you, Ayah. I can’t wait to come home and hug you.’ But yesterday evening, someone called to inform me that Siti Auni Syafiqa was no longer around as she was involved in an accident,” he said when met by reporters at the Forensic Department of Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) here today.

For Sheikh Ali, those words are now an everlasting memory, reminding him of his daughter’s face, who had always been strong since childhood despite having a heart condition.

“She was always strong, even though since the age of four she had to go back and forth to the National Heart Institute for treatment. In fact, she had secured another cardiology appointment,” he said.

In the incident at about 5.30 pm, three people, including Siti Auni Syafiqa, were killed while four others were injured after the car they were in skidded and collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle while on their way back to Kuantan.

Sheikh Ali said that Siti Adawiya Syauqina suffered serious head and facial injuries.

His wife, Salmieza Muhamed, 46, was not involved in the crash as she was travelling in another vehicle. — Bernama
