KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 — Former Kedah Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department chief, Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat, has been appointed as the new Petaling Jaya District Police Chief.
He replaces Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC) Shahrulnizam Ja’afar, who now serves as Chief Assistant Director of Management (Establishment), Bukit Aman Management Department, according to a report in Berita Harian today.
The handover ceremony saw Shahrulnizam present the duty handover note and baton of command to Shamsudin, witnessed by Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar.
In his farewell speech, Shahrulnizam expressed his gratitude to all members of IPD Petaling Jaya, whom he described as the backbone of efforts to reduce crime rates and strengthen community relations.
Shahrulnizam had served as Petaling Jaya District Police Chief since February 23 last year and was promoted to SAC on September 4.
Meanwhile, Shamsudin, who hails from Kuantan, Pahang, pledged to continue working closely with the media and local communities to ensure collective safety and wellbeing.
Shamsudin, who joined the force on October 1, 1994, previously served as Baling District Police Chief and as Deputy Head of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department at Kuala Lumpur IPK.
