KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has fixed Sept 24 for the next case management in Datuk Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak’s RM10 million defamation suits against Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal’s lawyer, Chetan Jethwani, confirmed the new date when contacted today.

The senior lawyer said the court fixed the matter after today’s case management was vacated, but no reasons were given for the postponement.

Farhash, a former political secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim, is seeking RM10 million in damages over remarks allegedly made by Wan Fayhsal on Parliament grounds on Nov 14 last year.

Farhash, who also previously served as Perak chairman, claimed Wan Fayhsal’s statements had implied that he offered bribes or issued threats to MPs to support and the current government.

He further alleged the remarks suggested he had conspired with an individual known as “Datuk Botak” to carry out such acts.

He said the post brought shame and disrepute to him in his personal capacity and as chairman and director of several public listed companies.

Farhash, who sits on the board of 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd and Apex Equity Holdings Bhd, is no longer active in politics.

He is seeking RM10 million in special damages, general and punitive damages, and an unspecified amount from Wan Fayhsal.

He also applied for an injunction order to bar Wan Fayhsal from repeating the defamatory statements and a court order for the deletion of related posts under Wan Fayhsal’s social media platforms.
