KUALA LUMPUR: The 2025 Selangor Crown Prince Golf Charity Cup attracted 132 participants to Kota Permai Golf and Country Club today, with proceeds channelled towards supporting at-risk youth through the TEAM Programme Malaysia.
The tournament was graced by the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who is also the royal patron of the Selangor Youth Community (SAY).
SAY said the event, organised in collaboration with the Albukhary Foundation and Selangor Football Club, highlighted how sports can unite people for social good.
“This tournament not only celebrates the spirit of golf but also demonstrates the power of collective goodwill in transforming young lives,” it said in a statement.
Funds raised will support TEAM Programme Malaysia, an initiative run with The King’s Trust International under the patronage of Britain’s King Charles III. The programme assists young offenders, care leavers, NEET youth (not in education, employment or training) and individuals overcoming substance abuse.
It has helped more than 500 youths over the past five years and aims to reach another 150 to 200 participants next year through a nine-week course followed by a structured post-programme phase.
SAY said attendees from both government and private sectors enjoyed a meaningful day on the course while contributing to a programme that builds communication skills, confidence, motivation and resilience among marginalised youth.
“As we strive to unlock the potential of these young people, we also aim to inspire positive change within the community and society as a whole. This event allowed participants to play an active role in shaping a better tomorrow, one young life at a time,” the organisation said.
Founded in 2017 by Tengku Amir Shah, SAY focuses on entrepreneurship, sports and health, arts and creative industries, and community service. It has impacted over 360,000 youths through more than 250 initiatives and recorded a social return on investment of RM6.50 for every RM1 invested.
