
PETALING JAYA:
A weak earthquake measuring 2.7 on the Richter scale struck about 3km west of Segamat, Johor, at 7.55pm today.
In a Facebook post, the meteorological department said the quake’s epicentre was located at a depth of 10km while tremors were felt in Segamat and the surrounding areas.
Johor has experienced a series of mild earthquakes from Aug 24, with the first one being a magnitude 4.1 quake, striking 5km west of Segamat at a depth of 10km.
This was followed by several aftershocks in the same region, including magnitudes of 2.8, 2.5, 3.2, 3.4 and 2.7 in various locations around Segamat and nearby areas like Kluang and Batu Pahat.
By early September, Johor had recorded at least eight minor quakes.
