PENAMPANG, Sept 12 — A 97-year-old man, who was reported missing after a mudslide destroyed his home in Kampung Sarapung here yesterday evening, was found dead today.
Penampang fire station chief Zeno Tinggalan said the search team found the victim’s body under the house at 10.35am.
“The body was removed from the rubble and was carried out from the area, about 750 metres, to the main road,” said Zeno, adding that the body has been handed over to the police for further action.
During heavy rain around 6pm yesterday, the mudslide from a nearby hill crashed into the house, trapping the victim and a woman.
Villagers managed to rescue the woman from the rubble, but the man could not be found. — The Borneo Post
