Scouts Brand Refresh Identity, Inject Younger Generation Dynamics

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 (Bernama) — The Scouts Association of Malaysia (PPM) is implementing a brand refresh initiative through the introduction of a new logo and uniform to ensure the movement remains relevant and competitive in facing current challenges.

National Chief Scout, Maj Gen (Retd) Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Zin Bidin said the new logo maintains the classic elements of the scouting world but is given a modern touch with colours and shapes symbolising the dynamics of the younger generation.

“This logo is not just an identification mark, but a reflection of PPM’s aspirations to remain relevant in the eyes of the community and the world,” he said when appearing as a guest on Bernama TV’s Apa Khabar Malaysia programme recently.

He said the uniform design had also been changed from the grey colour used for over 70 years to emerald sea for shirts and aspen green for trousers, with a neater cut and outdoor activity-friendly fabric.

“This new colour not only gives an exclusive and professional identity, but also avoids the misuse of old colours that have various tones and are sold on the black market.

“This uniform is also practical to wear during camping, expeditions and community service, thus instilling a sense of pride and discipline in more than 600,000 Scout members nationwide,” he said.

According to Mohd Zin, the brand refresh is an important strategy to strengthen the corporate image and credibility of the organisation as well as attract the interest of the younger generation without neglecting traditional values.

He said the effort was also inspired by the move by the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) which implemented a comprehensive brand refresh to strengthen the image of Scouting as the leading global youth movement with a more modern, bold, inclusive and digital-friendly visual identity.
