PUTRAJAYA: Schools nationwide are ready to be used as temporary flood relief centres if needed.
Education director general Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad said the ministry is also prepared to assist in areas not previously flood prone.
“We had a meeting in September and we are prepared to face any eventualities. In areas prone to flooding, we have PPS,” said Mohd Azam.
“Even in places that do not usually flood, we are on standby to assist the National Disaster Management Agency and state disaster management committees,” he added.
He spoke after a briefing for senior editors in Putrajaya this morning.
“We have 10,249 schools nationwide and 8,330 are designated as PPS,” he added.
