KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 — A man was killed when the Proton Persona he was driving collided with a Mitsubishi Triton on the road to Tanjung Batu Beach, near ABF Beach, here last night.
In the 7.41pm crash, the victim, identified as Maja, was trapped in the driver’s seat before being extricated by firefighters using specialised rescue equipment, according to BuletinTV3.
However, he was later pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry medical personnel.
Meanwhile, four passengers in the Mitsubishi Triton — Nyipa Nasir, Teo Siew Ing, and their two young children, Jordan Avid, 4, and Audry Greasy Bulan, 2 — sustained only head and leg injuries. They were rescued by members of the public before emergency responders arrived.

A spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said they received a distress call at 7.41pm and deployed nine firefighters from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station to the scene.
“The operations team arrived within 10 minutes and carried out rescue work using specialised tools.
“The operation also involved cleaning up an oil spill on the road to prevent further risks,” he said.
The deceased’s body was handed over to the police for further action, while the injured were sent to Bintulu Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
