An vice-president has dismissed M ‘s remarks as his personal opinion after the deputy president hinted that the party may quit Barisan Nasional.

Johari Ghani said such remarks, especially those made in anger or frustration, should not be viewed as the party’s stance, Berita Harian reported.

“Did he say it, or did his party say it? He can’t decide for the party. If it’s a decision made by the party, that’s a different matter,” Johari was quoted as saying. “Sometimes people speak out of anger. We should let things calm down first. Don’t complicate matters.”

, which holds only one parliamentary seat, in Tapah, again voiced its dissatisfaction recently over being sidelined within the unity government, saying it felt like an “unwanted guest.”

reportedly claimed the party had been promised a Cabinet post after the 2022 general election, only to be “cheated” when the promise was not fulfilled.

When asked whether was considering joining Perikatan Nasional, he said: “Right now, I dare not say yes or no.”

Last Sunday, chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he believes that MIC is guaranteed a better future remaining with the coalition despite its discontent over not being given any role in the unity government.

Earlier today however, MIC president SA Vigneswaran said they were prepared to engage in discussions with any political party to ensure its survival and better serve the Indian community.
