KUALA LUMPUR: MyKasih Foundation has increased the processing capacity of Sara MyKad terminals by 60 per cent to ensure smoother transactions.
In a statement, the foundation said its staff had also been deployed to larger hypermarkets to troubleshoot issues on the ground and support merchants.
Users are advised to plan their purchases during non-peak hours, such as weekday mornings, to avoid congestion and ensure a smoother shopping experience.
“We are actively monitoring system performance around the clock and taking immediate action to enhance system capacity where needed.
“As of 5pm today, we have successfully completed almost 600,000 transactions, a 20 per cent increase compared to the same time yesterday.
“This brings the total number of Sara aid and monthly Sara transactions over the past two days to 1.45 million, benefiting recipients with a combined spending of RM91 million across the country,” it said.
The foundation noted that delays were still being observed in Selangor, Perak, Sabah and Malacca.
“Several hypermarkets in urban areas with a high concentration of Sara recipients have experienced bottlenecks, especially during peak hours between 1pm and 2.30pm.
“This may be attributed to the increased number of shoppers taking advantage of the long weekend,” it said.
System downtimeSystem downtime yesterday had led to payment delays and caused some shoppers to abandon their items.
In addition to the RM100 one-off Sara aid credited into MyKad for over 22 million Malaysians, 5.4 million recipients also received their monthly Sara credit today.
