TAWAU, Sept 7 (Bernama) — The MADANI Government’s one-off RM100 Penghargaan Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) or SARA Appreciation Aid, which began distribution on Aug 31, continues to bring relief and joy to the people.
Recipients met by Bernama during Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil’s visit to inspect SARA initiative at a supermarket here said they were grateful for the assistance, which allowed them to purchase more essential items this month.
Private sector employee Eddy Sukirman, 42, from Kampung Tanjung Batu Darat, said the financial aid helps ease the burden on low-income households.
“I am grateful, as it helps ease the financial burden of raising seven children. I used the SARA assistance to buy household and kitchen items.
“I also appreciate the government’s initiative through this one-off RM100 aid. As both my wife and I are recipients, we received a total of RM200 this month, which has reduced our spending on basic necessities,” he said.
Eddy also suggested that a wider variety of items be made available for purchase under SARA, including local products such as local snacks, amplang.
Kolej Vokasional Tawau student, 18-year-old Anas Mohammad Dzakwan Suwardi from Kampung Tanjung Batu Darat, described the government’s assistance as inclusive and caring, benefiting even young students.
“I’m happy to receive RM100 from the government. Today is the first time I used it to buy biscuits because I plan to go to the waterfall for recreation. I still have some left and will use this assistance wisely.
“Even as a student, I am responsible for managing my own finances. I will save and won’t need to rely on my family for help,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohd Fitri Fawwaz Abd Fattah, 18, from Kampung Pasir Putih, said he had RM80 remaining from the one-off SARA assistance, which he planned to give to his mother to buy additional kitchen items.
“I already purchased some of my own necessities, and I want to give the rest to my mother. I feel very fortunate to receive this government assistance,” he added.
