KUALA LUMPUR: Sancy Bhd has appointed Datuk Dr Subrahmanyam Balan, head of Istana Johor Medical Services and chief consultant anaesthesiologist to the Sultan of Johor, as its advisor, effective Sept 1.
Dr Balan’s primary role will be as a medical and clinical advisor to Sancy and its subsidiaries, the company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.
“He will identify business prospects for the Sancy fleet of solutions and potential investment or equity opportunities for the group,” it said.
Dr Balan, 68, holds a bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery from Kasturba Medical College, Mysore University, India. He later obtained a master’s in anaesthesia from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
He also completed sub-specialty training in cardiac anaesthesia and perfusion in Australia, with postings at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Institut Jantung Negara and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in New South Wales.
Sancy said Dr Balan brings over 40 years of experience in medical services, specialising in general and regional anaesthesia, intensive care, acute pain service, cardiac and thoracic anaesthesia, and cardiopulmonary perfusion.
“This appointment reflects Sancy’s commitment to strengthening its expertise and positioning the company for future growth,” the group said.
