If you use Grab for food deliveries or groceries, chances are you’re already earning GrabRewards. But with a few recent updates to the rewards system, it’s now easier to get more out of each order, both in how GrabRewards are earned and how they can be used.
These changes introduce more flexibility into the GrabRewards experience, especially for regular users of GrabFood, GrabMart, or GrabPay, offering practical ways to make your everyday spending go a little further, provided you know where to look *wink*.
What’s new with GrabRewards?
Grab has introduced additional ways for users to earn GrabRewards by completing specific actions on the platform. These include:
- Hosting a Group Order (minimum 3 participants): Earn 3% GrabRewards.
- Ordering during breakfast or teatime (8–10am or 2–4pm): Earn 15% GrabRewards with a minimum spend of RM15. (Capped at 350 points, monthly redemption up to 4 redemptions.)
- Ordering from Grab Signatures (minimum spend of RM25): Earn 5% GrabRewards, also capped at 350 points, with a monthly redemption limit of 10 times per users
- Paying in-store at Jaya Grocer with a GX Card or GrabPay Wallet: Earn 1.5X GrabRewards.
- Topping up your GrabPay Wallet from GX Account: earn 1 GrabReward for every RM3 top-up.
- Using your GX Card overseas on Grab services: Earn 3X GrabRewards.
With the introduction of even more ways to earn GrabRewards within the platform, Grab is also streamlining the GrabRewards multiplier, so every user can earn GrabRewards whether you’re a GrabUnlimited user or not.
These offers can be combined. For example, a single GrabFood order placed at the right time, using the right payment method, can activate multiple point-earning actions at once.
How it all comes together
Let’s say you’re placing a GrabFood order at 2:30pm. It includes items from Grab Signatures, and you invite two friends to join using the Group Order feature. You pay with a GXBank card and activate the 15% back offer.
That one order would be eligible for:
- 15% back (teatime window)
- 5% back (Grab Signatures)
- 3% back (Group Order)
- 1X back (GXBank card)
While each offer has its own cap or limit, they all apply to the same transaction, which makes stacking multiple actions a practical way to earn more points on the same order.
Where to find these offers
To take advantage of these extra rewards, users must manually activate the available offers before placing an order.
Here’s how it works:
- When you’re at the checkout screen, tap on the “Offers” section.
- Select the relevant promo, such as “Earn 3% GrabRewards for Group Order,” and apply it.
- Once selected, your estimated rewards will update to reflect the new total.
After the order is completed, your GrabRewards points will be credited accordingly. You can also tap on the estimated points at checkout to view a breakdown of how they’re calculated, including the base amount and any applied bonuses.
New: Redeem points more easily with the burn toggle
In addition to earning updates, Grab has introduced a new burn toggle for food and grocery orders. This feature allows users to redeem smaller amounts of points instantly at checkout, without needing to accumulate large totals.
The toggle appears below the Offers section. When enabled, it applies your available points to offset part of the bill and displays the amount saved in the order summary. This adds more flexibility to how points are used, allowing you to choose whether to save up or redeem them as you go.
You’re Now a GrabRewards Expert
The latest changes to GrabRewards are focused on adding more options, both for earning and redeeming points. Whether you’re placing the occasional GrabFood order or using GrabPay frequently, these updates make it easier to see value in your daily spend.
For the best experience, it’s worth checking the Offers tab before placing an order and taking note of the burn toggle when it appears at checkout. These tools don’t change how the platform works, but they do offer more control over how and when rewards are applied.
