Sales hit RM100 million on 7th day of Sara rollout

KUALA LUMPUR: Sales reached RM100 million today on the seventh day of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) Appreciation Aid programme, with 1.7 million recipients making purchases as of 10.30pm.

According to the Finance Ministry, the success rate of transactions rose to 99.9 per cent, up from 99 per cent at the same time yesterday.

The ministry said system improvements and processing capacity expansions over the past six days contributed to today’s stability.

Since its rollout on Aug 31, more than 10 million Malaysians have used Sara credit and monthly allocations to purchase essential goods, with total spending over the seven days reaching RM641.9 million nationwide.

It is a one-off aid payment distributed via MyKad, benefiting 22 million people with a total allocation of RM2 billion.

Sara is provided to all citizens aged 18 and above, regardless of B40, M40, or T20 categories, and can be redeemed cashless at selected supermarkets using their MyKad.

According to the ministry, the RM100 credit remains valid until Dec 31 and can be used at over 7,300 registered retail outlets nationwide.
