Sakeri Abdul Kadir has been appointed as the new president of Putrajaya Corporation for a two-year term from tomorrow, the chief secretary to the government, Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, announced today.
Sakeri succeeds Fadlun Mak Ujud, who has been appointed as mayor of Kuala Lumpur from tomorrow. Sakeri, 56, was previously a deputy secretary-general at the works ministry.
Shamsul said Sakeri’s appointment took into account his extensive experience in the civil service as well as his expertise in development and strategic policy.
He said Sakeri has an excellent service record in various development portfolios at the national level, in addition to demonstrating strong strategic leadership.
“With an excellent track record in management and development, he is believed to be capable of leading Putrajaya Corporation to a higher level of excellence,” he said.
Shamsul said the appointment is expected to further strengthen efforts to make Putrajaya a smart, green and livable city.
Putrajaya Corporation, a statutory body set up in 1996, is in effect a city government, with responsibility to administer and manage the Federal Territory of Putrajaya.
