KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry will not publicly disclose information that was privately conveyed to Pandan Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli regarding the investigation into the attack on his son last August.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that making such information public could hinder efforts to identify the suspect and may compromise the safety of key witnesses.
“Regarding the request to publicly verify information related to the investigation into the attack on the child of the Pandan MP, I wish to clarify that making such verification publicly in this House could potentially disrupt efforts to track down the suspect and may also jeopardise the safety of key witnesses.
“As such, the request cannot be acceded to,” he said in a written parliamentary reply last night.
The former economy minister asked Saifuddin whether he will publicly verify several pieces of information that were conveyed to him in confidence on 1 December 2025, regarding the outcome of the authorities’ investigation into the person responsible for the attack on his son.
Saifuddin nonetheless assured that justice would be upheld without compromise and any further developments that can be publicly announced without undermining the investigation will be done.
Rafizi’s son was attacked and pricked with a syringe at a shopping mall in Putrajaya on Aug 13 last year.

Rafizi said checks revealed that two men on a motorcycle were following his wife’s car prior to the attack.
On the same day, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said they were tracking down two male suspects, and that Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage from the mall had been obtained and reviewed.
