Sacked Pas man defends actions in challenging Perlis MB's leadership

KUALA LUMPUR: Fakhrul Ismail, who was sacked from along with two other Perlis assemblymen, has defended his actions in challenging Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli’s leadership.

He said Mohd Shukri had weakened in the state, and that a leadership change at the state level was necessary.

“Our actions were right in our judgment, and may be wrong to those with differing views.

“What is certain is that the MB’s (Mohd Shukri) actions have indeed weakened in Perlis. He must be replaced,” he told BH today.

Fakhrul said details of Mohd Shukri’s actions would be disclosed after a new menteri besar is appointed and declined to elaborate.

He said he would submit an appeal to Pas and that the party remains close to his heart.

Party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the decision was made following its central working committee meeting, based on Clauses 76 and 15A(1)(b) of the Pas Constitution (2025 Amendment).

The issue arose after several assemblymen from Pas and Bersatu submitted statutory declarations (SDs) to the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, last Friday, stating they no longer supported Mohd Shukri’s leadership.
