KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will announce their list of candidates on Wednesday (Nov 12), says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
The GRS chairman noted that it was the choice of other parties to announce their lists earlier, but GRS has set Nov 12 for the announcement.
“We have already distributed the seats. If others want to announce theirs, they can go ahead.
“We’ll make our announcement late, on Nov 12,” he said after an event in Menumbok, Thursday (Nov 6).
The caretaker Chief Minister reiterated his confidence in the coalition’s ability to regain the mandate to govern the state after the 17th Sabah Election on Nov 29.
Hajiji said this confidence stemmed from the strong line-up of winnable candidates fielded by GRS in all contested seats.
“We are only fielding candidates who can win, including here in Kuala Penyu. I’ve already given a hint earlier and we are confident of victory in this election.
“If we win, we will continue implementing the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 development roadmap to ensure the continuity of Sabah’s development programmes,” he said.
On another matter, Hajiji agreed that the proposed construction of a bridge linking the Federal Territory of Labuan with mainland Sabah should be revisited with the Federal Government.
He said this facility is crucial not only to improve connectivity between the island and mainland Sabah but also to boost the economy of the Menumbok sub-district and the Kuala Penyu area.
