KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional has built much of Sabah’s development foundation and now wants to continue strengthening it as the state heads towards a crucial election.
MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the coalition’s push centres on continuing work already delivered on the ground.
“We have built before, and we want to continue building for the people,” he said.
He said this during Barisan’s election machinery launch at Sutera Harbour here Sunday (Nov 9).
Dr Wee added that Barisan’s long presence in Sabah, backed by its multiracial foundation and MCA’s historic role in the formation of Malaysia, remains a key pillar in safeguarding the state’s development trajectory.
Echoing Sabah Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin’s call to “kita bikin balik,” he said the slogan reflects the coalition’s focus on strengthening what has been implemented rather than making empty promises.
He said Barisan’s machinery is now fully activated statewide, with cooperation among component parties being tightened as polling draws nearer.
“The drums have sounded, and our preparations are in place. What matters now is an absolute victory for Barisan,” he said, adding that Deputy Prime Minister and Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi remained confident of the coalition’s prospects.
Dr Wee then urged Sabahans to show strong support on polling day, saying the coalition was ready to “celebrate victory together” if given the mandate to continue shaping the state’s development path.
