Sabah flood evacuees dip slightly to 396, Penampang remains worst hit

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 14 — The number of flood victims in Sabah dropped slightly to 396 people from 124 families this afternoon, compared with 400 people from 125 families this morning.

The Sabah State Disaster Management Committee, in a statement, said there were 242 victims from 73 families in Penampang, while the number in Beaufort rose to 154 people from 51 families.

In Penampang, victims were placed at three temporary relief centres, namely Penampang Sports Complex (31 people, five families), Dewan Huguan Siau (147 people, 49 families) and Sekolah Kebangsaan St Paul Kolopis (64 people, 19 families).

All victims in Beaufort were relocated to the permanent relief centre in Selagon.

“A total of 22 villages were affected by the floods, with 14 villages in Penampang and eight in Beaufort,” the statement said. — Bernama
