KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 — A lorry driver broke his right leg after his vehicle skidded and plunged into a drain at KM 419.6 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS), near the Bukit Tagar Toll Plaza northbound in Hulu Selangor yesterday.
According to Harian Metro, Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Ibrahim Husin said police received a report about the incident at about 3.30pm.
“The lorry, driven by a 25-year-old man, was transporting rubbish from the Taman Beringin landfill in Batu Caves to the Bukit Tagar disposal site.
“Upon reaching the location, the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle, veered right, hit the road divider, and ended up in a drain,” he said when contacted by the national daily.
Ibrahim said the crash caused the rubbish to spill across the northbound lane towards the Bukit Tagar Toll Plaza.
He said the driver, who was trapped in his seat, was rescued by the Fire and Rescue Department and taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.
“The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added.
