The price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia as well as RON97 petrol across the country will go up by two sen per litre in the coming week due to a rise in global oil prices.
The finance ministry said RON97 will be priced at RM3.18 per litre nationwide from tomorrow, up from RM3.16, while diesel will cost RM2.90 per litre in West Malaysia, compared with RM2.88 currently.
The price of RM2.90 per litre for diesel in the peninsula is still lower than the price of RM3.35 per litre when it was first floated in June last year, it said.
In a statement, the ministry said the price of RON95 is maintained at RM2.05 per litre while diesel will retail at the subsidised price of RM2.15 per litre in East Malaysia.
These prices will be in effect until Sept 17.
The ministry said the government would continue to monitor global crude oil price trends and take appropriate measures to ensure the people’s continued welfare and wellbeing.
