Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced a one-off aid of RM500 for civil servants in Grade 56 and below, including those employed on a contract basis.
A special aid of RM250 will also be given to all pensioners, including veterans who receive monthly pensions and those who do not receive pensions, he said.
“This aid will be distributed in early March next year in time for Aidilfitri festivities,” Anwar said in tabling the 2026 budget.
Earlier, Anwar said the government will set aside close to RM2.2 billion to build, maintain and repair civil servants’ quarters, including units that house doctors, nurses, the armed forces, police, teachers, firemen and prisons department personnel.
Anwar also said that the government would purchase houses which will be turned into quarters for Eastern Sabah Security Command personnel in Lahad Datu, Sabah.
A similar initiative will be rolled out for immigration staff in Lipis, Pahang and Kuala Lumpur.
