The federal government will allocate RM40 million to repair the homes affected by the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion, Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said today.
The fire on April 1 wrecked 81 homes at Taman Putra Harmoni and Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru, with structural damage exceeding 40%.
Another 81 homes were partially damaged and 57 were affected but not burned, while 218 homes remained unaffected, including those in Kampung Tengah, Puchong.
Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd previously said it would rebuild the 81 homes that were destroyed, with the costs covered by the government.
The Petronas gas pipeline fire that broke out at around 8.10am on April 1 sent flames more than 30m into the sky, with temperatures soaring to 1,000 degrees Celsius.
It took nearly eight hours for the blaze to be extinguished.
